When we talk about Bollywood movies, it is only the bigger names that find a space in the discussion. It is unfortunate how some really amazing Bollywood movies, despite having famous names associated with them are so forgotten that no one talks about them anymore. Here’s doing a little justice for them. Check out these Bollywood movies that deserve more attention.

1.Finding Fanny (2014)

A satirical road comedy, Finding Fanny, with its overarching Goan surrounding, is hilariously quirky. In spite of having big names from Bollywood like Deepika Padukone and Arjun Kapoor, Finding Fanny did not reach enough people. The star cast also included legendary actors like Naseeruddin Shah, Dimple Kapadia, and Pankaj Kapoor. Ranvir Singh also makes a cameo appearance in the movie. The movie is available in both English and Hindi.

2.Photograph (2019)

Photograph is the second Hindi movie directed by Ritesh Batra, Lunchbox fame. Photograph is about two people from extremely opposite class divisions who find it difficult to define what they feel for each other. Saniya Malhotra plays Miloni, a studious girl from a Gujarati household in Mumbai, and Nawazuddin plays Rafi, a tourist photographer who works all day at the Gateway of India. The film is raw and real in its depiction of the class divide that exists in our country.

3.Do Dooni Chaar (2010)

Do Dooni Chaar is a story of a middle-class family who dream of owning a car. But the dream does not come at an easy cost and the family goes through a lot before owning a car. The film is funny, sweet, and warm in its narrative. Directed by Habib Faisal, Do Dooni Chaar received the National Award for Best Feature Film  (Hindi) that year.

4.Madras Café (2013)

Directed by Shoojit Sircar, Madras Café is set in the 80s and 90s during the time of Indian intervention in the Sri Lankan civil war and assassination of Indian prime minister Rajiv Gandhi. The film was highly appreciated for its making. Madras Café was successful in projecting the political sentiments without turning it into a jingoistic narrative. The characters were well carved out and depicted complex dilemmas that one goes through in professional as well as personal life.

5.A Death in the Gunj (2019)

Directed by Konkona Sen Sharma, A Death in the Gunj is the story of an Anglo Indian Family who have come to their ancestral home for vacation. In the duration of one week, certain incidents happen in the house that makes for the entire movie. Shuttu, played by Vikrant Massey is the lead of the story. The stellar cast that includes Ranvir Shorey, Tilottama Shome, Kalki Koechlin, etc elevates the entire narrative.

6.Blackmail (2018)

Blackmail stars late actor Irrfan Khan as a married man in his late thirties. He is bored with his mundane life and lacks any sort of excitement. Things take a different turn when he finds out about his wife’s infidelity and he sets out to take revenge on her and her lover. The movie is humorous in a dark and shady way. Though the film bombed at the box office, critics lauded the film for introducing a new brand of humor.
