Throughout its 13 year history, the Supima Design Competition has given recent fashion school grads the invaluable opportunity to show their work at New York Fashion Week and potentially jumpstart their careers with a nice pool of prize money. But this year, amid the coronavirus crisis, Supima tackled things a little differently.

In 2020, the Supima Design Competition went digital, including its runway presentation. Law Roach, image architect to stars like Zendaya and Celine Dion, hosted the event on Instagram Live, where six recent graduates from the leading U.S. design schools — FIT, Parsons, RISD, FIDM, Drexel University and Kent State University — unveiled the special capsule collections they designed using Supima cotton fabrics. A jury of 20+ industry tastemakers, editors, and stylists were chosen to judge the collections ahead of time, and Roach announced the winner via livestream. 

Drexel University grad Amanda Forastieri took home a prize of $10,000 for her collection, dubbed "Utopia." Of course, all of this year's finalists were winners, having assembled truly impressive feats of design under unprecedented circumstances.
